Privacy Policy

Alora Wake (“the App”) is developed by Mark Kawecki (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, where it goes, and your choices regarding that data.
Our principle is simple: we collect only what the App needs to function. We do not sell your data. We do not track you. We do not show ads.
Data We Collect
Everything below is used only to make a feature work. None of it is linked to an account, because the App has none, and none of it is used for tracking.
Health & Fitness Data
Sleep analysis, heart rate and heart rate variability from Apple Health, plus motion from your iPhone or Apple Watch during Smart Wake. Used for sleep tracking, quality scoring and Smart Wake timing, and kept on your iPhone and Watch. The App also saves the sleep sessions it detects back to Apple Health. If you turn on AI suggestions, a short sleep summary (average duration, efficiency and a quality score, never raw readings) is sent to OpenAI.
Location Data
Precise location for weather, traffic-adjusted alarms, location alarms and the optional map link in a Backup Person text. Weather comes from Apple WeatherKit; if that fails, your location rounded to about 1 km goes to OpenWeatherMap. Commute times come from Apple Maps, with Google Maps as a fallback, which receives your route’s start and end points. When you search for a place, the text you type and your current location (so nearby results come first) go to Google Places. We do not keep a location history on any server.
Alarms, Settings & Profile
Alarm configurations, saved places, bedtime routines, your name and profile details, and the text you type to the AI alarm assistant stay on your iPhone. The assistant sends that text (up to 500 characters) and the current time to OpenAI to turn it into alarm settings. If you turn on iCloud Sync (off by default), your settings and profile, wake history with sleep scores, and custom sleep sounds are copied to your own iCloud account through Apple’s key-value storage. Alarms, backup contacts, saved places and health data never sync.
Calendar, Reminders & Smart Home
With your permission, the Morning Briefing shows today’s events and reminders, and smart-home wake-ups use your HomeKit device and scene names. These are read on your iPhone and cached there only for those features. They are never sent anywhere.
Audio Data
Microphone access is used only for voice commands and vocal wake-up challenges when you turn them on. The App does not record or store audio. Speech is recognized by Apple’s speech recognition service, which may process audio on Apple’s servers under Apple’s privacy policy.
Camera & Photos
Reference photos for photo-matching challenges and scanned QR codes or barcodes stay on your iPhone. Face ID challenges use Apple’s Face ID, which never shares biometric data with apps.
Backup Person
If you add a Backup Person, their name and phone number are stored on your iPhone (the number in the iOS keychain). When a text is sent, the number and the message (your name as entered in the App, the alarm time and, only if you turn on Include My Location, a map link to where you are) go through our relay to Twilio for delivery. Twilio keeps a log of the messages it sends for us. Email us to have yours removed.
Crash Reports
If the App crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) receives the device model, iOS version, app version, what the App was doing and a random installation ID. No account or name is attached. Crash reports are sent automatically.
Our Relay
Requests to OpenAI, OpenWeatherMap, Google, NewsAPI and Twilio pass through a relay we run at alorawake.com, so service keys never ship inside the App. Each request carries a random ID created on your iPhone that is not tied to your Apple ID, name or phone number. The relay keeps daily usage counters keyed by that ID, which expire on their own, and does not store what you send. Its hosting provider may keep routine request logs for a short time. Delete My Data → All Data replaces the ID.
Data We Do Not Collect

- ×We do not sell or rent your data, and we share it only with the service providers named below, only to do what you asked
- ×We do not serve ads of any kind
Third-Party Services
The App relies on these services. Apple services are built into iOS; the others are reached through our relay. Each is used only for the feature named, and most are optional:

Data Storage & Security
- ✓Health and sleep data stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch, protected by iOS data protection (encrypted whenever your iPhone is locked)
- ✓Backup Person numbers and service tokens live in the iOS keychain
- ✓iCloud Sync data is encrypted by Apple in transit and at rest, in your Apple account, not on our servers
- ✓Every request to an outside service travels over HTTPS, and service keys stay on our relay, never in the App
- ✓We run no user database. The only data on servers we control is the relay’s expiring usage counters, keyed by a random ID, and the message log in our Twilio account
- ✓Subscription management is handled entirely by Apple’s App Store
Your Choices
- Health: Revoke access anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Alora Wake.
- Location: Revoke or change to “While Using” in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Alora Wake.
- Microphone, Speech Recognition, Calendars, Reminders, Camera, Photos, HomeKit: Revoke in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Apple Music: Disconnect from within the App’s settings.
- Notifications: Manage in iOS Settings > Notifications > Alora Wake.
- iCloud Sync: Off by default. Turn it on or off in the App’s settings.
- AI suggestions: Off by default. Turn them on or off in the App’s settings. The AI alarm assistant sends only what you type into it.
- Crash reports: Sent to Crashlytics automatically. There is no switch for this in the App today.
- Export your data: Export My Data in the App’s settings (Privacy & Legal) gives you a JSON or CSV copy.
- Delete your data: Delete My Data in the App’s settings (Privacy & Legal) removes data by category or everything, including the App’s copy in your iCloud account, Backup Person numbers from the keychain and the relay ID. Deleting the App alone leaves keychain items and any iCloud copy in place.
Children’s Privacy
Alora Wake is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
